Dear Parents
This
is Color Week! We will do activities with color words (starting to
recognize them), collages, prisms, rainbows, colored ribbons, and
color paddles, We will focus on books like Planting a Rainbow by
Lois Ehlert, My Many Colored Days by Dr Seuss, Mouse Paint by Ellen
Stoll Walsh, and Little Blue and Little Yellow. The
nursery rhyme is Rub A Dub Dub.
Our
letter is Rr. We have now done 3 letters, Mm, Hh, and Rr. I want
to encourage you to buy inexpensive flashcards (or make them
yourselves) and take just a few minutes every day to go through them
with your child. We do
the name of the letter, and its sound.
Many of the children do not know their alphabet letters and
this is an easy way to help them, by taking it slowly one at a time,
as we do the letters in class.
Make sure that the flashcards do not have the upper and lower
case letters on one card. (In other words, they really have 52
letters to learn, not only 26!!) .
I
want to ask that you do the same with the numbers 1-10.
We will be doing a lot of counting activities and the
secret to counting is putting your finger on every single item
while you count. They
tend to rush through and hop from item to item.
You can make these activities fun at home by counting cars,
candy, people, steps, and other things around the house.
We
will be attending mass for the first time on Wednesday with
our 4th grade pew buddies.
We are excited to join the rest of the school at 9:15am.
Please help us reinforce respectful behavior as you go to church as
a family on Sundays.
Library
books are due on Tuesdays.
The
Magazine sales kickoff have begun. You have received a packet to
help you sell magazines on behalf of our school. Please help us with
this fundraiser. Last year we made such excellent sales in the
preschool that we almost won the "most sales in the school
prize"!!! I am grateful for all your efforts in this.
DADS DAY has been changed to Tuesday Oct 21. Dads, please plan to spend the day with us from 8am through noon.
GRANDPARENTS
DAY: Sept 24, join us for mass at 9:30am
Blessings
