Music

Mr. Scott will be leading the music at St. Charles.  What a wonderful opportunity for our children.  Ask your child what songs they are singing in class.

Composer Report Information

Begin receiving information from your teacher about the composer report.
Begin researching your composer (go the school or public library; surf the internet with the help of your parents or a teacher:  www.google.com, www.onlineencyclopedia.org; http://en.winipedia.org/wiki/main_page

Write or type the report on your composer using the worksheet.  The higher your grade-level, the more information I'll be looking for (don't say I didn't warn you...).  Decide how you are going to present your report...

  • Read it directly from your written report?
  • Dress up as your composer and tell the audience about your life as a composer?
  • Bring a picture or prop (like a musical instrument or a copy of the composers' music...sometimes you can find copies of the composers' manuscripts displaying the way they would have written the music themselves, by hand) to display as you read your report?
  • Display your information and pictures on a poster board.
A written description of how you are planning to present your information is due.
  Presentations of reports begins....

Be sure to start your report NOW.  Remember that from time to time I will be coming to you to ask you to give me some information about your composer (other than that he was German or had a big nose.  Also, if you start now it will save you a lot of heartache and frustration closer to the time your report it due.  Finally, have fun!
